— The Challenge
“Six years of feature accretion had left the dashboard nearly unusable. Power users had adapted, but every new trial was churning within the first session.”
— Our Approach
We ran three weeks of contextual inquiry with existing users to map mental models versus actual workflows. The audit surfaced 14 distinct navigation anti-patterns. We restructured the information architecture around job-to-be-done clusters rather than feature categories — reducing the average task path from 7 steps to 2.5. A new design system (400+ components) replaced the legacy patchwork and now ships with every new feature.
